Description
The walking stance punch is one of the most fundamental techniques in Taekwon-Do,
combining proper stance work with a powerful straight punch. The practitioner steps
forward into walking stance (gunnun sogi) while executing a middle or high section
punch with the opposite hand. This technique teaches coordination between lower and
upper body movements.
Key Points
- Maintain shoulder-width stance
- Front knee bent, back leg straight
- Weight distribution 50/50
- Hip rotation generates power
- Pull opposite hand to hip (reaction force)
- Strike with first two knuckles
- Exhale sharply on impact
Target Areas
- Solar plexus (myung chi)
- Philtrum (in jung)
